Chicagoland Yard Drainage: What You Should Know
Yard drainage systems come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and they’re vital as flood control and seepage draining systems. However, they can be nerve-wracking for homeowners to install because they often require excavation, which can disturb a good lawn.
Parks’ Plumbing & Sewer takes the utmost care in installing your drainage system. It’s a relatively simple process, despite what it sounds like, that mainly involves digging a basin— see the example French Drain below—at the lowest spot of the yard. After digging, we run drainage piping underground that allows the water from the yard to drain out into the street.
This is called a French Drain System—not named for the country, funnily enough, but for the Assistant U.S. Treasure Secretary Henry Flagg French, who popularized them in the 1859 edition of Farm Drainage. It’s a time-tested method of yard drainage that is almost invisible from the surface and will make sure your grass and your gardens stay high and dry for years.
Why Should You Look At Parks' Plumbing & Sewer Yard Drainage Systems?
Your Lawn Should Still Look Good When We're Done
Homeowners should be able to take pride in their grass, their gardens, their flowerbeds, and any other parts of their yard they take care of. It’s a wonderful thing to have a place all your own you can make look nice—and you shouldn’t have to worry about whether or not us doing our job is going to ruin all that. It won’t, and we handle every yard with care and attention.
Experience
We’ve been doing these types of projects for almost half a century. We’ve learned not just how to make them effective, but how to make them practically invisible, or if you want, another part of your yard’s decoration.
Attention To Detail
It’s important to note that these systems need to be vetted through the proper government codes and regulations.
Parks’ Plumbing & Sewer has been around the block and dewatered enough backyards to know what we’re doing, how we’re doing it, and most importantly, why it needs to be done right.
Parks' Plumbing & Sewer Flood Control Systems
A good yard drainage system always needs someone or something to help it along, and one of the best systems to pair with it is a good, hardy flood control system. We’ve spent forty years designing and building specialty equipment to tackle the job. Some of our patented technology includes our:
- ‘DOUBLE GUARD’™ VALVE: The Parks’ ‘DOUBLE GUARD’™ VALVE is a flood control backwater valve system designed personally by us, for you. It’s made from red brass, a metal with an average lifespan of over 200 years. The system uses two brass flappers that open and close, allowing sewage and wastewater to flow from the house to the street, but preventing sewage and wastewater from backflowing into your home. The ‘DOUBLE GUARD’™ valve is a piece of flood control technology made entirely out of metal, with cast-housing and stainless steel parts. Other companies use a galvanized box with plastic parts and Styrofoam pieces, and you definitely don’t want any plastic parts in valve that’s supposed to keep your house safe from City Sewer backup. After over forty years of installations, this system still holds over a 99% success rate.
- J-Vault™: The J-Vault™ is our patented flood control inspection and maintenance vault. Unlike most other vaults—which are made from concrete—the J-Vault™ is built from fiberglass, and it has a lifespan fifty years longer than regular concrete vaults and is also prone to less damage. This vault can be installed quickly and with a clean finish that makes it easy on the eyes.
