Norridge was incorporated in 1948. It is a truly unique village as, it has been reported, it is the only town named ‘Norridge’ in the world. Its population is around 15 thousand. We are happy to say we are doing more and more work in the community. We have recently finished a few flood control installations, and we may be doing more in the future!
Norridge, a village that is also known as “Island within a City” because it is surrounded by the city of Chicago on all sides, has a population of about 14,600. The community is very close to almost anything. Plenty of green spaces to the west, great shopping within the village limits. Residents originally came up with the name “Norridge” being that it is part of the Norwood Park Township and the nearby suburb Park Ridge. The area in the early days used to be known as “Swamp” because of it’s lack of streets and it’s swamp like conditions. In 1948 the village was almost annexed by Chicago. After the area was incorporated as a village and elected their first President. By the 1950’s the development and the construction of a waterworks system and installation of storm and sanitary sewers began.
