Located on the banks of the Des Plaines River, Rosemont was known for flooding since the 1950’s with the latest problems occurring in the spring of 2016 due to heavy rains. We have been providing flood control systems to Rosemont and protecting many residents with our patented Double Guard flood control systems and numerous overhead sewer installations. We are happy to service the flood control needs of Rosemont from our home in Skokie.
Rosemont is a village in Cook County and located 14 miles northwest of Chicago’s Loop. As of the 2010 census, Rosemont has a population of 4,202. Des Plaines, Park Ridge, and Schiller Park all refused to annex what became Rosemont, so in 1956 the village was incorporated, and Donald Stephens became the first village president. While Rosemont’s land area and population are relatively small, the village is a major center for commercial activity in the region. Rosemont’s boundaries accommodate a convention center, a performing arts theater, a major-events arena, and rows of hotels which serve an average 75,000 – 100,000 visitors daily.
Rosemont’s name was selected by pulling the name from a hat, even though some would argue that Stevensville might be more appropriate. Don Stephens was mayor from 1956 until his death in 1977 and then the late mayor’s son, Brad Stephens, was appointed and has been mayor ever since. Don Stephens was a visionary who planned Rosemont with his eye on the expansion of O’Hare airport. Stephens also faced personal difficulties when he was linked to crime-syndicate boss Sam Giancana and tried twice for political corruption. He was acquitted in both cases.
Due to its proximity to several interstates, O’Hare and downtown Chicago, it has emerged as a significant convention and entertainment destination. It includes millions of square feet of office space, nearly 50 restaurants, 15 hotels, the 840,000-square-foot Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Allstate Arena (Chicago Wolves, Chicago Sky, DePaul Blue Demons, and concerts and other live entertainment events), the 4,000+ seat Rosemont Theatre, the 130-store Fashion Outlets of Chicago, the Rosemont Stadium, and the entertainment complex MB Financial Park, which features restaurants, entertainment and a large common area used for summer concerts and ice skating in the winter.
